Visit from the AAPM President to CVIT

The Center for Virtual Imaging Trials (CVIT) had the pleasure of welcoming Dr. M Mahesh, the President of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) for a visit today. During his time at Duke, he met with members of the Clinical Imaging Physics Group (CIPG), the Medical Physics Graduate Program, and the CVIT team, taking the opportunity to engage in open and insightful discussions.

The conversation touched on several important topics, including the need to bring the medical physics profession more to the forefront and to strengthen collaboration and unity among medical physicists around the world. These ideas strongly resonated with our team, as CVIT represents a truly international community of scientists, engineers, and medical physicists working together toward a shared vision of advancing medical imaging.

A highlight of the visit was a conversation between the AAPM President and Dr. Ehsan Samei, CVIT Director and former AAPM President, who interviewed him in front of the lab. The discussion combined professional insight with humor and personal reflection, offering an inspiring perspective on the field’s direction and its growing global impact.

CVIT is always grateful to welcome such kind, passionate, and visionary leaders who share our commitment to advancing the future of medical imaging.
