Cardiorespiratory Motion Prediction for Congenital Heart Defects

Forum Details

Date: January 20, 2023 12-1 PM Eastern time

Speakers: Luc Duong, Ph.D.

In this talk, Dr. Luc Duong introduces his work in motion prediction involving 2D, 3D and 4D analysis of vascular structures for pediatric cardiology. Motion compensation is a major issue in interventional cardiology. This is especially true during the treatment of pediatric congenital heart defects, where the patient’s smaller anatomy is complex, the heart rate is significantly higher, and the ECG signal is irregular. In addition, the amount of ionizing radiation must be minimized. These factors impact on the development of proper motion gating. Virtual trials using the XCAT phantom can help develop a whole new generation of techniques including full personalized cardiorespiratory motion prediction and 3D models for navigation guidance.
