Speakers: Abhinav K. Jha, PhD from Washington University
Objective evaluation of imaging methods for nuclear medicine and theranostics is essential for clinical translation, yet clinical studies for this purpose can be costly, logistically challenging, involve additional radiation exposure, and lack reliable ground truth. In this talk, Dr. Jha presented their “ISIT Metaverse”—a collection of in silico imaging trials developed for objective, clinical task-based evaluation of imaging methods. These trials span quantitative theranostic imaging, evaluation of accuracy and generalizability of AI methods, optimization of personalized imaging protocols, and, most recently, validation of a no-gold-standard evaluation technique (NGSE-Corr). Through these studies, he illustrated the potential of in silico imaging trials as a safe, efficient, and rigorous framework for early-stage evaluation of imaging methods for nuclear medicine and theranostics.
